Familia's Washed Out Loss

The forecast earlier called for long hours of heavy rain. Unfortunately for the Bisons, it came true.
Tides used the top of the fifth to score five runs against the Herd to eventually win 5-4 in a rain-shortened game Monday night at Coca-Cola Field.

The Bisons began their scoring efforts in the first with a lead-off triple by Corey Wimberly. Josh Satin knocked in Wimberly with an RBI double to make it 1-0 Herd.

In the second, Dustin Martin doubled with one out. Brad Emaus followed with a single to drive in Martin and bump the Bisons lead to 2-0.

Brad Emaus added to the Bisons lead once again with a two-run shot to left for a 4-0 Bisons lead.
"I got a good pitch to hit so just drove it left," Brad Emaus said.

On the mound, Bisons starter Jeurys Familia faced the minimum through three innings as the Bisons held a 4-0 advantage through four. However, that's when the Tides beat the rains to the scoreboard.
Bill Hall lead off with a walk and Jamie Hoffmann followed right behind with a double to set up the Tides with runners on second and third nobody out.

Chris Robinson reached on a throwing error by Sean Kazmar to score Hall and cut the lead to 4-1. Blake Davis followed with a RBI double to knock in Hoffmann and cut the lead to 4-2.

After an RBI groundout by Xavier Avery to make it 4-3 Bisons, Lew Ford crushed a two-run shot to left to overlap the Bisons lead 5-4.

Of the five runs scored in the fifth by the Tides, only two of them were earned.

Familia's final line of the game was five innings pitched, five runs, two earned, striking out four.
