Tuesday night at Citifield Jenrry Mejia struck out 7 in 5 1/3 innings The Mets beat the Rockies 3-2 . The Mets got off to a fast lead in the bottom of the first. Daniel Murphy singled. A double by Ike Davis put runners on 2nd and 3rd..But then Juan Lagares tripled to right center clearing the bases to make it 2-zip Mets. The Rockies cut the lead to 2-1 when an error on a double play ball by Ike Davis led to a Nolan Arenado sac-fly. In the 6th, the delay caused by an injury to home plate umpire Manny Gonzalez seemed to unnerve Mejia a bit. He gave up a solo homerun to Charlie Blackmon (#2) to tie the game at 2, Then he loaded the bases. Collins pulled Mejia and Carlos Torres came in out of the pen and got the Mets out of the jam. In the bottom of the 8th, the speed of Juan Lagares and Eric Young won it for the Mets. With Young on 2nd and Ike Davis on 1st with 2 out…..Lagares hit a squibb just past the pitcher that he beat out for a hit..and with shades of Mookie Wilson, Young came in to score all the way from 2nd to give the Mets the lead…and the win. Scott Atchison gets the win, he’s now 2-0, With Bobby Parnell on the DL, The Met closer by committee was LaTroy Hawkins. He pitched in and out of trouble in the 9th for his 1st save on the year. For the Mets offensively they were led by Davis and Lagares with 2 hits apiece. Wilmer Flores making his major league debut at third, went 0-4. With the win, the Mets improve to 50-60 on the year and 23-32 at home. Wednesday night Matt Harvey (8-3 2.21) toes the rubber for the Mets.
