Jerry Uht Park • Erie, PA • 7:05 PM

LAST GAME: After dropping the resumption of a suspended game from April 10 by a 4-2 score, the Binghamton Mets bounced back and defeated the Erie SeaWolves 7-6 in a seven-inning contest on Friday night at Jerry Uht Park. Seven of the B-Mets’ ten hits went for extra-bases, including a leadoff home run by Danny Muno and a two-run blast by Travis Taijeron. Binghamton blew advantages of 1-0 and 6-3, but took the lead for good on an RBI double by Josh Rodriguez in the sixth inning. Adam Kolarek retired all four batters he faced to collect the win and Chase Huchingson stranded the potential tying and winning runs on base in the seventh to earn his first career save.

BINGHAMTON STARTER: RHP Noah Syndergaard takes the hill for his ninth start with the B-Mets and 22nd overall this season. The 20-year-old from Mansfield, TX has gone 3-0 with a 1.69 ERA in his last three starts holding opponents to a .130 batting average during the stretch. Syndergaard made his Double-A debut against the SeaWolves at NYSEG Stadium on June 23. He allowed two runs on five hits and struck out seven over six innings en route to a 7-2 win. Acquired in a trade with the Toronto Blue Jays in December 2012, Syndergaard is pitching  his first season in the New York Mets organization.

ERIE STARTER: RHP Drew VerHagen takes the mound for his ninth start with Erie and 20th overall this season. The 22-year-old from Heath, TX has allowed two earned runs or fewer in all but two of his starts with the SeaWolves this season. He went 5-3 with a 2.81 ERA over 12 appearances (11 starts) with the Lakeland Flying Tigers (High-A) to open the season and was transferred to Erie in mid-June. He was selected by the Tigers in the fourth round of the 2012 draft out of Vanderbilt University.

REACHING TRIPLE FIGURES: Danny Muno’s leadoff home run in the first inning on Friday was Binghamton’s 100th home run of the season. The B-Mets rank third in the league with 101 homers. It was the second time Muno has started the first inning with a long ball. All nine home runs for the switch hitter have come as a left-handed batter.

SAVE AND A BEAUTY: B-Mets reliever Chase Huchingson racked up the final two outs of the seventh inning last night to earn his first professional save. His two previous chances came as a piggy-back starter with the Savannah Sand Gnats in 2011. He becomes just the fourth B-Met to earn a save this season, joining Jeff Walters (33), Jack Leathersich (3) & Adam Kolarek (1).

TAKING THEIR TIME: Last night’s game clocked in at 2:34, the B-Mets longest seven-inning game of the season by four minutes.

DO YOU BELIEVE IN MAGIC?: Binghamton’s win last night knocked their magic number to clinch a playoff spot down to 8. Their magic number to secure the Eastern Division was pushed down to 12. The B-Mets have not made the postseason since 2004 nor won their division since 2000.

WORKING FOR THE WEEKEND: The Binghamton Mets are 15-3 on Saturdays, their best record for any day of the week. They have won six straight on Saturday with their last loss coming in the first game of a doubleheader against the Trenton Thunder on June 29. They are 30-8 on Saturdays and Sundays in 2013.

HUGHES HELPING OUT: Excluding the resumed game yesterday, Rhyne Hughes has gone 6-for-12 and hit safely in each of his last four games. During the stretch he has collected two doubles, legged out a pair of triples, scored twice and driven in five runs. The veteran first baseman is hitting .316 since returning from a two-month stay on the disabled list with left bicep tendonitis.

NEXT GAME PREVIEW: The B-Mets conclude their three-day visit to Erie with a matinee on Sunday starting at 1:35 PM. LHP Mark Cohoon takes the mound against LHP Ramon Garcia.
