The Marauders (16-26) scored eight straight runs to score an 8-5 win over the St. Lucie Mets (23-18) on Wednesday night at McKechnie Field. Robby Rowland (W, 4-10) pitched six innings and surrendered three runs to earn the win, striking out six along the way.

St. Lucie capitalized on early wildness by Rowland to plate two runs without a hit in the first inning. The Marauders had a quick answer though, tagging Domingo Tapia (L, 2-8) for two runs on a two-out double by Dan Gamache in the home half of the first. Bradenton batted around in the second inning, chasing Tapia with one down and taking a 7-2 lead.

Four Mets relievers teamed to hold the Marauders to one third-inning run the rest of the way. The Mets got a run in the sixth off Rowland, and plated two in the seventh against Tyler Waldron. Waldron collected the final nine outs for his second save.

Stetson Allie, Willy Garcia, and Jose Osuna all had two-hit nights for the Marauders. The game was Bradenton's first since August 2, with three rainouts and an off day creating the long layoff. Wednesday's game was delayed twice for a combined 99 minutes.

Game two of the series is Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Adrian Sampson will be on the bump for the Marauders. Gates open at 5:30 p.m.
