GNATE WINS BEST SAL MASCOT, FINAL ROUND BEGINS TODAY
Round Two of 2013 Mascot Mania ends noon on August 8
Savannah, GA – Gnate the Gnat, the Savannah Sand Gnats mascot for the past nine years, has won Round One voting against all the other South Atlantic League teams for the 2013 Mascot Mania competition. He now faces each winner of the other 13 leagues in the finals.
“I’m speechless (literally)!” Gnate says. “It’s an honor to be voted the best mascot in the South Atlantic League. My fans have been relentless in voting. I hope to bring home the Championship title to Savannah and Sand Gnats fans worldwide!”
Round Two of voting begins today and ends on August 8 at noon. All mascots begin Round Two with zero votes. The mascot with the most votes receives a Championship belt.
For the past two weeks, web and twitter votes have been pouring in from fans and players across Minor League Baseball for their favorite mascot. Fans can vote an unlimited number of times through www.milb.com/mascotmania or via Twitter using @MiLB, the club handle (@gnatsbaseball) and #mascotmania. 25 Twitter votes per account per day are counted.
Also, Minor League Baseball’s sweepstakes continue as part of Mascot Mania. Fans have the chance to win MLB.TV subscriptions, MiLB.TV subscriptions, MLB.com & MiLB.com shop gift cards and mascot themed/logoed items. Fans can enter through the online ballot or by tweeting their vote and following @MiLB.
