Mets Minor League Report – August 4

Rafael MonteroNoah SyndergaardSeth Lugo

MML Players of the Day – Aug. 4: A terrific trio: 51’s SP Rafael Montero, B-Mets SP Noah Syndergaard & Sand Gnats SP Seth Lugo

Las Vegas (61-53) vanquishes Memphis (56-60) 4-2.

A dynamite outing for Rafael Montero: 8.0 IP, R, 4 H, 0 BB, 4 K.
Greg Burke came in to pitch the 9th inning, and gave up 1 R on 1 H while retiring 2 batters.
Robert Carson (S, 8) got the final out on a strikeout after giving up a hit.

Wilmer Flores: 1-3, HR, RBI, R. Wilmer played 3B again today, possibly in preparation for a call up early this week.
Jordany Valdespin: 2-4, R. As much as I hate to give Spin space here, we need to be aware that since his return to the minors he is on an absolute tear. His slash line in 16 games - 58 AB is .466/.537/.759/1.296.

Binghamton (70-43) blasts Harrisburg (61-54) 6-0.

Noah Syndergaard (W, 5-0) was brilliant: 5.0 IP, 0 R, 2 H, BB, 3 K.
B-Mets relievers Armando Rodriguez (3.0 IP, H, K) and Ryan Fraser (1.0 IP, 2 BB, K) completed the shutout.

Danny Muno: 3-5, HR, 3B, RBI, 2 R.
Rhyne Hughes: 1-3, 3B, 2 RBI, R.

Clearwater (54-55) smacks St Lucie (60-47) 5-2.

Rainy Lara: (L, 4-4) 7.0 IP, 4 R, 5 H, (HR) BB, 2 K.

Cory Vaughn: 2-4, 2B.
Kevin Plawecki: 1-4, RBI.
Lucas Duda: 0-4. End of story!

Greenville (43-67) sinks Savannah (64-44) 8-6.

Newly promoted from Brooklyn, Seth Lugo is superb for 6.0 innings: R, 2 H, 0 BB, 10 K.
The Sand Gnats corps of relievers was unable to continue what Lugo had started and do what their predecessors had done last night. Hunter Carnivale gave up 2 runs while getting only 1 out in the 7th inning, and then Shawn Teufel allowed 2 runs and Beck Wheeler (BS, 2) (L, 1-5) allowed 3 in the 8th inning, to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Jorge Rivero: 2-4, BB, R.
Dimas Ponce: 2-4, RBI, R.
Jeff Glenn: 2-3, RBI, R.

Jamestown (29-17) bombs Brooklyn (23-23) 9-5.

Starter Carlos Valdez went 3.2 innings: 2 R, ER, 3 H, 4 BB, 2 K.
Our old friend, Juan Urbina, (L, 0-1) making his 1st start after his return from injury, was apparently not quite ready: 1.0 IP, 5 R, 4 ER, 3 H, 3 BB, 2 K.

L.J. Mazilli: 2-4, HR, 3 RBI, R.
Gavin Cecchini: 1-3, 2B, BB, RBI, R.

Greenville (28-15) demolishes Kingsport (25-18) 17-1.

Martires Arias (L, 1-5) was battered: 2.1 IP, 7 R, 7 H, (HR) 2 BB, K.
Edioglis Villasmeal was similarly battered: 2.2 IP, 7 R , 6 H (2 HR) BB, with 3 K.
Tyler Bashlor stemmed the bleeding with 2.0 perfect innings.

Yeixon Ruiz: 1-4, 2B.
Victor Cruzado: 2-4, 2B, 2 BB.
DH Michael Bernal: 1-3, HR, RBI, R.

No other games scheduled.

Awesome article on the days work by the Mets minor league teams. Do you put this out everyday? If so, can you add me to your distribution list, if you have one? Thanks, and again nice piece!

Thank you, Robert. I try to get it out every day. It is only here on Macks Mets, there is no other distribution. Glad you like it.

Not a problem Herb. I'll just add your page to my favorites and check back. I'll also put it on my Facebook page so that other fellow Mets fans can enjoy your page. Thanks again!
