Palm Beach, St. Lucie Split Twinbill
Palm Beach and St. Lucie completed a suspended game from last night in addition to a 7 inning game to cap off a very important twin bill.
The suspended game was picked up in the bottom of the 5th inning with St. Lucie leading Palm Beach 4-2 with 2 outs. The Cardinals managed to tie the game in 6th thanks to a Jesus Montero double.
However, the Mets would strike again in the top of the 7th, scoring two additional runs on a Robbie Shields double. Shields' 2-RBI double would prove to be the game winning hit as the Mets held on for a 6-4 victory.

Kurt Heyer got the starting nod for the redbirds in the later game. The right hander from Huntington Beach, CA was rather impressive in the outing. Tossing six shutout innings (99 pitches) where he gave up only 4 hits, a pair of walks and collected 3 strikeouts.
The game was deadlocked in a scoreless tie until the 4th when Mets' starter, Domingo Tapia (3.1 IP, 5H, 6ER, 5BB, 6K), hit rough waters. Tapia issued a leadoff walk to cleanup hitter Jonathan Rodriguez (0-3 BB, R). Patrick Wisdom (2-3, 2B, BB, RBI, R) followed up with an RBI double down the left field line. A rattled Tapia then proceeded to issue back-to-back walks, loading the bases.
Ninth batter Ronny Gil (1-3, RBI, R) and leadoff man David Popkins (2-3, BB, RBI, 2R) then strung together a pair of singles putting the Cardinals up 3-0. Unfortunately for Tapia, the damage did not stop there as Palm Beach shortstop, Alex Mejia (1-3, 2B, BB, 3RBI), ripped a bases-clearing double giving his squad the substantial 6-0 lead.
Palm Beach would plate their 7th run in the bottom of the 6th inning thanks to a fielding error by Matt Reynolds.
With the comfort of a 7-0 lead, closer Ronnie Shaban was able to throw a perfect 7th inning, securing the Cardinals 29th victory of the second half.
