Mack - We're here today with Norris (NE) HS ace RHP, Byron Hood. Hey Byron, first of all, how did the 2013 season treat you back in school?
Byron - Our team did very well ending the 2013 season as state champs! My defense played very well behind me as I posted an era below 1. I finished 6-0. We have a stellar offense to also back me up and we did a great job hitting the ball.
Mack - Checking on the stats, I have you at 86-91, 91, 74 slider, and 76 change... any update on that?
Byron - Sounds about right to me.
Mack - Take us back to the day someone put a baseball in your hand and it felt right. Then, take us through the steps that you have taken to get to where you are today.
Byron - Wow that was a long time ago.. Hmmm. Probably when I was 11 and I started throwing harder! Then from 8th grade to freshman year I went from 82 to about 90.
Mack - Who and why are the people that have influenced your game the most over the years?
Byron - Mostly my mom and dad! They have been there for me since day one and I couldn't thank them more for that! Secondly my coaches have done a great job of coaching me up on my mechanics!
Mack - What do you have scheduled this summer or are you taking the time off?
Byron - I took some time off but now I'm playing legion. I will take part in a couple pro showcases over the next month.
Mack - Obviously, next year will be the most important baseball year of your young career. Working on anything new?
Byron - Working on enhancing my delivery to be able to up my game and improve my velocity/control.
Mack - Anything special you want to say to your fans and the readers out here on The Mack’s Mets Report?
Byron - Coming from a kid in Nebraska, never let anything ruin your dreams. If its size, strength, or even ability, keep working and everything will fall into place! I just couldn't thank all of the people who have helped me get to this spot anymore! I would be nothing without them. Thanks, Byron Hood #12
