Wednesday night in Atlanta, Jacob deGrom had a horrible
first inning as he threw 47 pitches allowing the Braves to score 3 runs. The
Braves beat the Mets 3-1. In that first inning B.J. Upton singled, then deGrom
walked Andrelton Simmons and Freddie Freeman back to back to load the
bases. deGrom almost got out of it
striking out Justin Upton and getting Jason Heyward to pop out. But Chris
Johnson doubled home 3 runs and it was 3-0 Braves. Meanwhile, Julio Terheran had the Mets at bay. The only
Met run came in the top of the 4th on a sac-fly by Curtis Granderson
that brought home Eric Young Jr. deGrom
last 5 innings he allowed 6 hits 3 runs (all earned) he walked 3 and struck out
8. Vic Black, Jeurys Familia, Josh Edgin and Jenrry Mejia threw scoreless relief.
Teheran went 7 allowing just 4 hits
allowing the 1 run (earned) walking 3 and striking out 5. deGrom takes the loss and falls to 1-5. Teheran
gets the win he’s now 8-5. Jordan Walden pitched the 9th and picked
up his 3rd save. The road
trips ends at a disastrous 1-6. With the sweep by the Braves the Mets are now 11
games under .500 and 10 games out of first in the NL East. The Mets stand at
37-48 overall and 20-27 on the road. The Mets are off on Thursday, Friday night
its back to Citi Field to host the Rangers over the July 4th
weekend. Friday night Jonathon Niese (5-4
2.88) goes for the Mets, Nick Tepesch
(3-3 3.65) goes for Texas.
