Las Vegas sent Seth Lugo to Salt Lake City for his first AAA league start. Vegas batters treated him to 4-0 lead in the first. He allowed 2 earned in 5 IP, and picked up the win.
Cody Satterwhite pitched 2 innings and struck out 5. Nimmo and Lutz homered with Brandon having 3 hits and a walk - at .321, he has really joined the Vegas hitting party. Tovar had 4 hits and Reynolds 3. All of that led to a 9-3 win, with 17 hits.
Binghamton's Rob Gsellman (11-5 overall in 2015) faced a stiff challenge in 61-47 Bowie. Nah, not so tough...
2 unearned runs in 5 innings. Rob got followed by strong Akeel Morris and Josh Smoker relief pitching.
Fine hitting again by Josh Rodriguez 2 doubles, RBI...and Xorge Carillo (3-4, 3 RBI, .232). Mazz scored 3 times.
St Lucie had Miller Time tonight. 5 shutout innings but a 4 run 6th put the Mets behind, 4-3. 4 in the 9th made it 7-4 for the Lucites. Smith had 2 hits and RBIs (66), and McNeil was on base 3 times. Oberste knocked in 2.
Savannah edged Rome by one after winning the previous night by 17. Now 53-32 in their last 85 games.
Luis Guillorme was 3-5, 3 runs scored including the game winner, and has 7 hits the past 2 games (.302); Becerra 2-5, 2B (.300); Michael Katz 3-4, 2 doubles, and Jean Rodriguez 2-5 and 3 RBIs including the game winner. (Katz has 28 RBIs and 17 XBH in 30 Gnats games).
Ricky Knapp threw 7 innings of one run ball to lower his ERA to 2.69. No win for Ricky: Luis Mateo threw a scoreless 8th, got an out in the 9th, but gave up a walk and ground ball triple that tied it up. That runner later scored, so the Gnats won in the 10th instead.
Brooklyn sent Almonte out, hoping for some offense to back him up. It was 12-0 Lowell after 5 innings, with Almonte getting whacked for 10 runs in 3 innings and 4 Cyclops errors. If you are interested in the final results, and I am not, check the boxscore, folks. (I peeked: 12-0 finale).
Kingsport played 2 today. Darwin Ramos in Game 1 did not pitch well. Wilson (.242) was 2-3 and a walk (3 hits and 2 walks in the two games), and Mazelka had a hit and RBI (.331).
Game two, they were losing 6-0 to Bristol and heading toward being swept, but then it got wild. Seven runs in the seventh to snatch the lead, tied at 7 by Bristol in in bottom half, but the K Mets added 2 more in the 8th (extra innings) on a Berrios triple for the 9-7 win. Two of their weak hitters so far this year (Armando Berrios and Leon Canelon) had 3 RBIs apiece.
GCL Mets: a sigh of relief as Marcos Molina was finally back and sharp, with 3 perfect innings, with 3 Ks and 2 pop outs. A+ and smiles everywhere, I am sure.
The other Met notable in the GCL win was top Met pick Desmond Lindsay (.389) going 2-3 and a walk.
DSL METS 1: leading 5-4 going into the 9th, the Mets gave up 4 in the 9th to lose the contest.
DSL METS 2: Aneury Olivo (now 4-1, 3.35) was DEALING today, folks. 5.1 IP, 11 K's. The team fanned 16.
GOAT: the Cyclones, and Gabe Almonte
