To: The Mets Brass – Turn the Phones Off

From MLBTradeRumors:

11:52am: Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports says Lackey had a physical today with the Red Sox, which is "an indication that he is close to an agreement with the team." Rosenthal expects the deal to be in the range of A.J. Burnett's five-year, $82.5MM contract, yet the FOX reporter is unsure the Sox would guarantee five years. If the Red Sox complete a deal with Lackey, the Angels would get Boston's #29 draft pick and the Blue Jays would be bumped to #67 or worse for Marco Scutaro.

Look guys, I’ve said this before.

No one on the free agent market is calling their agent and telling them that they want to win a World Championship, so get me a deal with the New York Mets.

There simply is no desire to play every day in that field, pitch for that team, or deal with the mess in the front office.

The only solution here is a 3-5 year plan. Fill in your squad this year with non-tender players, promote Ike Davis, Ruben Tejada, Clint Everts, Fernando Martinez, and Josh Thole in September.

Also, workhorse Brad Holt, Jenry (is this the Jenry with two “r’s”) Mejia, Dillon Gee, and Mike Antonini, in hopes of developing one SP in 2010.

Lower the outfield wall.

Consider changing the dimensions of the field in 2011.

Hire someone that knows how to draft.

Hire someone that knows how to sign decent international prospects.

Hire someone to build more of those milk shake thingies

Confidentially, market Jose Reyes.

Then, play the season and do the best you can.

Mack
