TODAY’S GAME: Tonight, the Bisons face the Charlotte Knights in the first game of a four-game series from Coca-Cola Field (7:05 p.m.). The Herd is coming off a 3-1 series victory over the Norfolk Tides. Buffalo is now 13-5 at Coca-Cola Field. After this four-game series, the Herd will head to Pennsylvania for a four-game series with the Lehigh Valley IronPigs.
vs. THE KNIGHTS: Tonight’s game marks the first contest between the Bisons and the Knights this season. Buffalo won just two of eight games against Charlotte last year. Since Buffalo’s return to the International League in 1998, the Herd is 45-51 (.469) against Charlotte.
BEST IN BASEBALL: INF MIKE HESSMAN continues to lead all of baseball with his 42RBI. He’s four ahead of L.A. Dodgers’ OF ANDRE ETHIER (38) and Single-A Lexington Legends’ INF KODY HINZE (38). Hessman also leads the International League in home runs (12), extra-base hits (26), total bases (93) and slugging pct. (.669). His 14 doubles are second-most in the IL.
TOP HITTER: OF JESUS FELICIANO leads the International League with his .367 (40-109) batting average. He enters tonight’s game on a six-game hit streak over which he has averaged .458 (11-24) with two stolen bases and five runs scored. Last season, Feliciano led the IL with 154 hits.
HOMERING HERD: The Bisons added three home runs in last night’s victory. OF JASON PRIDIE, OF RUSS ADAMS and INF MIKE JACOBS all went deep. The Bisons have had at least one home run in each of their last six games (13 total). Buffalo is second in the IL with 40 homers on the season.
ROLLIN’ STONE: RHP TOBI STONER starts tonight looking for his third consecutive victory. The righty has allowed just one earned run in each of his last two starts. He struck out a season-high eight on May 8 in Indy and worked seven innings without a walk to win on Thursday in Louisville.
