Savannah 12, Delmarva 4

From Press Release:

The Savannah Sand Gnats (17-9) blew out the Delmarva Shorebirds with eight runs in the first two innings Tuesday morning on their way to a 12-4 victory at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium in Salisbury, MD. A pair of two run home runs, one from LF Juan Lagares, his fourth of the year, and one from 3B Jefry Marte, his first, propelled the Gnats.
Even with fist pitch at 10:35 AM, the earliest start of the 2010 season, the Gnats bats started strong. After CF Pedro Zapata led off the game with a walk, Lagares homered to rightfield to put the Gnats up 2-0 two batters into the game. SS Wilmer Flores followed with a single, and 1B Sam Honeck walked to put runners at first and second. RF brought Flores home with a double and Honeck scored on a single from DH Alex Gregory. Puello came home on a wild pitch to make it 5-0 Gnats in the first inning.

Savannah added three more runs in the second capped by Marte’s long two-run home run to left field.

Gnats’ starter Armando Rodriguez was the beneficiary of the team’s offensive onslaught. Rodriguez held the Shorebirds (14-11) to just one hit and three unearned runs in five innings to pick up his second win. Lance Hoge worked the final three innings for Savannah to pick up his first save of the year.
