MM's Top 25- #22 RHP Logan Verrett

A poll of our Mack Mets writers was conducted to compile a site wide Mets Organizational Top 25 Prospects. All statistical information is provided by Baseball-Reference.com. Scouting reports may include information from outside sources such as Baseball America.

Mack's Mets #22 organizational prospect is......

#22 RHP Logan Verrett
Bats: R Throws: R
Height: 6' 2" Weight: 180 lb
Acquired: 2011 draft, 3rd round, Baylor University

2012: (A/A+) 5-2, 2.70 ERA, 1.1 BB/9, 8.1 K/9, 0.968 WHIP

Logan came into last season with a very polished three pitch repertoire and was expected to dice through the lower levels which he absolutely did. Hitters couldn't touch him as he posted a 9.3 K/9 rate and a 7.9 H/9 rate in Savannah. One would think that St. Lucie would be a bit tougher but instead he performed even better dropping his H/9 rate to 7.0 flat, his BB/9 rate below 1.0 (0.9 to be exact.) which combined to give him a WHIP of only 0.879. The only major concern from his jump was that K/9 rate fell to 6.1 but I personally would chalk that up to level adjustments. If he can continue progressing at this rate don't be surprised if we see his name flying up other analysts lists.

Anticipated Assignment: (A+) Port St. Lucie starting rotation.

First of all, one of the nicest person you will ever meet,

Verrett was one of those college Friday pitchers Sandy and Company sneaked into the draft two year ago.

Lots of poise and definitely shows the projectability to be a rotational starter in major league baseball; however, he may never get that chance with the Mets.

I expect his name will start hitting the phones after a good 2013.
