draft - kyle schwarber

  1. Kyle Schwarber - Indiana

2.    Justin Bellinger

6-13-13  -  20 - Detroit Tigers — Justin Bellinger, 1B, St. Sebastian’s HS (MA) - At 6’-5” and 235 pounds, the power potential is massive with the left-handed hitter. His patient approach at the plate, along with his strong wrists, allows him to wait on any pitch and drive it into the stratosphere. He has been a fixture at all of the summer events and showcases and is always one of the top performers. He doesn’t have a lot of speed (7.1/60) but he does project to a solid defender at first base. http://beforeitsnews.com/sports/2013/06/2014-mlb-mock-draft-1-0-no-time-like-the-present-2513748.html?currentSplittedPage=2

6-13-13 - Justin Bellinger hit .415 with eight home runs for St. Sebastian's School in 2013. .No prep player from Massachusetts was drafted this year, but that could change next year when Bellinger is available. He batted .415 with 36 RBI and eight home runs. He had a monster game against Portsmouth Abbey in the first game of the year, belting three home runs with 11 RBIs. Followed that outing with a triple and home run and eight RBIs against Dexter School. http://www.maxpreps.com/news/article.aspx?articleid=7c0ad513-b5e1-4ac1-b57e-8dedcc72c783&page=7

3     J.D. Davis - CSF

4.    Casey Gilllaspie

6-9-13  - 20.Casey Gillaspie, 1B (Wichita State): One of the more interesting pure college bats on the board for next June. Gillaspie has excellent bat speed that produces solid power, although it may need to improve a bit for first base. http://www.minorleaguerundown.com/2013/06/09/2014-mlb-draft-top-30-prospects/

5.    Austin Davidson - Pepperdine

6.    A.J. Reed

5-28-13 - A.J. Reed, 1B/LHP, Kentucky - Both a pitcher and hitter for the Wildcats, the 6’-4”, 245-pound left-hander has been his own offensive force when on the mound. Over the three games he has started, he is 10-for-14 with a triple, two home runs and 11 RBI. On the season, he is hitting .409 (18-for-44) with a double, triple, four home runs and 22 RBI over 11 games. His .480 OBP and .750 SLG show the kind of offensive talent he is. On the mound, he is 2-1 with a 4.50 ERA and 11 K/2 BB over 15.1 innings. http://throughthefencebaseball.com/2014-mlb-draft/29840#fm24otWuYCEocLQZ.99

7.    Sam Travis

5-28-13 - Sam Travis, 1B, Indiana - I need to show some love for the Midwest. Travis was named the Big 10 Freshman of the Year after hitting .319 over 60 games with 17 doubles, nine home runs, 50 RBI and a slash line of .397/.509/.906. The 6’-0”, 200-pound right-hander reached base in his first 30 games, including a 17-game hitting streak. This season, he has reached base in all eight of Indiana’s games to start the season. Over those eight games, he is 13-for-29 (.448) with five doubles, two home runs, 10 RBI and 10 walks for a ridiculous slash line of .600/.828/1.428 http://throughthefencebaseball.com/2014-mlb-draft/29840#fm24otWuYCEocLQZ.99
