The Mets have signed two righthanded pitchers and assigned them to Las Vegas (AAA) of the Pacific Coast League.
MITCH TALBOT: : The Mets signed righthanded pitcher Mitch Talbot today and assigned him to Las Vegas (AAA) of the Pacific Coast League. The 6-1, 180-pound native of Cedar City, UT spent this season in the Miami organization, appearing in one game New Orleans (AAA) of the Pacific Coast League before an elbow injury sidelined him. He made two starts with the GCL Marlins (R) of the Gulf Coast League before the Marlins released him. Talbot last appeared in the majors with Cleveland in 2011. He is 12-19 with a 5.30 ERA (137 earned runs/232.2 innings) in 43 career games, 41 starts, over three seasons with the Indians and Tampa Bay.
DARYL THOMPSON: The Mets have signed RHP Daryl Thompson to a minor league contract and assigned him to Las Vegas (AAA) of the Pacific Coast League...Thompson, 28, was pitching with the Southern Maryland Blue Claws of the Atlantic League...He was 10-5 with a 3.17 ERA (44 earned runs/124.2 innings)...Thompson allowed 114 hits, 49 runs, issued 39 walks and struck out 73 batters...He pitched in one game with the Cincinnati Reds in 2011, going 0-1 and he appeared in three games with the Reds in 2008, going 0-2.
