Mets Defeat Clearwater 4-0
PORT ST. LUCIE, FLA. — Lucas Duda homered and drove in three runs as the Mets defeated the Clearwater Threshers 4-0 at Tradition Field on Friday.
Duda went 3-for-3 with a walk and played left field in his fifth game on a major league rehab assignment. Duda had a two-out RBI single to center to score Kyle Johnson in the fifth.
Duda crushed a two-run home run to right-center in the eighth inning to make it 3-0.
Kevin Plawecki had an RBI double to left to score Cory Vaughn to extend the lead to 4-0.
Alex Panteliodis pitched 6 1/3 scoreless innings and allowed six hits while walking one and striking out six to pick up his sixth win.
Brett Mitchell tossed 1 1/3 scoreless while walking one and striking out two.
Hamilton Bennett pitched 1 1/3 scoreless while allowing one hit and striking out three to earn his ninth save.
The Mets will host the Clearwater Threshers on Saturday, August 3 at Tradition Field at 6:30 p.m. Michael Fulmer will be on the mound for the Mets.
