September 16th 2015 -- Marlins 6, Mets 0



Wednesday night at Citi Field, the Marlins behind rookie hurler Adam Conley blanked the Mets by the score of 6-0.  Bartolo Colon started for the Mets.  In the 4th Martin Prado connected for a 2nd deck homer to left off Colon to make it 1-0, for Prado his 8th homer on the year. In the 5th J.T. Realmuto connected for a solo shot of his own, his 10th on the year and it was 2-0 Miami. In the 6th Colon gave up a sac-fly to Justin Bour to make it 3-0, and after he walked Marcel Ozuna to make it 1st and 2nd, Hansel Robles came out to get the Mets out of the jam. In the 8th, Bour clubbed a tape measure shot against Tyler Clippard, his 18th homer on the year to make it 4-0. In the top of the 9th Dee Gordon and Christian Yelich added an RBI singles to make it 6-0 to cap the Marlin scoring. Conley was brilliant for the Fish, going 7 scoreless innings allowing just 3 runs while striking out 6 improving to 4-1 on the year.  Colon lasted 5 2/3 allowing 7 hits 3 runs (all earned) walking 2 and striking out 2 taking the loss, dropping to 14-12.  The Fish take 2 of 3 from the Mets for the 2nd time in 2 weeks. The Mets finished their season series with Miami with 11 wins and 7 losses.  Of the 3 hits David Wright went 2 for 3 with a double and single. Michael Cuddyer had a single as well. The Mets have now dropped two straight. Overall the Mets stand at 83-63 on the year and 46-26 at Citi Field.  The Nationals beat up on the Phillies on Wednesday night to the Met lead in the NL east is shaved to 7 ½ games.  Thursday is on an off day.  Crosstown rivals the Yankees come in this weekend. Friday night Steven Matz (3-0 1.88) goes for the Mets Masahiro Tanaka (12-6 3.40) goes for the Yankees.
