SALT RIVER RAFTING,
ANYONE? by Tom Brennan
As most of the free world marvels at the Mets' late season surge, the gears of the baseball universe grind on.
One of those gears include the Arizona Fall League, where both top prospects and more marginal ones are assigned to play.
So far, the Mets have assigned 3 guys to the Salt River Rafters, infielder extraordinaire Jeff McNeil, righty reliever Jeff Beck Wheeler (rock on), and knuckleballer-in-training Mickey Jannis. More Met players to follow.
The Rafters will also be represented by Arizona, Colorado, Toronto, and (uggh!) Washington minor leaguers.
The season starts October 13 (Rafters vs. Scorpions), at which point the Mets will likely be engaged in MLB playoff trench warfare, and ends with a championship game on November 21. Break out your dinghies & stay tuned.

Tom, I found this to be a very weak initial list for the AFL.
My guess is they are taking serious the knuckler much more than I am.
Mack, I do agree it is weak. We'll see if Cecchini and Smith get added to the AFL roster later, or if they are not fit to be, if it were ever their intention to add those two.
I'm sure Danny Muno would go if asked :)
It would be a huge leap, but why not send Kevin Kaczmarski after his great year, or Wuilmer or Eudor
Gavin Cecchini & Dominic Smith were added today
