Friday night at Citi Field, Daniel Murphy stroked a long
home run in the bottom of the 6th inning snapping a 1 all tie. The Mets
go on to beat the Yankees 5-1. It was
Masahiro Tanaka vs Steven Matz. The Yanks took a 1-0 lead against Matz in the top
of the 1st. Brett Gardner walked and went to third on a single by
Carlos Beltran. Former Met Chris Young then hit a sac-fly bringing home the
Yanks only run on the night. In the 2nd
Lucas Duda connected for his 1st homer since coming off the DL, and
his 22nd on the year to tie the game at 1. In the 6th
Murphy hit a long homer off Tanaka just shy of the Shea Bridge to make it 2-1
Mets, for Murphy his 12th on year. In the 7th Wilmer
Flores singled and pinch hitter Juan Uribe hit an opposite field 2 run homer,
his 6th as a Met and 14th on the year and it was
4-1. In the 8th, , with one
out Murphy tripled to center. David Wright walked. James Pazo came in to face
Duda and threw a wild pitch on his first toss scoring Eric Young Jr. who came
in as a pinch hit for Murphy. Matz had a
rocky start but got stronger as he went along going 6 innings allowing 7 hits
the 1 run (earned) walking 1 and striking out 4. Hansel Robles pitched a
scoreless 7th, Addison Reed pitched a dominant 8th and
Jeurys Familia pitched the 9th in a non-save situation. Matz gets
the win he improves to 4-0. Tanaka takes the loss falling to 12-7. With the win
the Mets improve to 84-63 overall and are now 47-26 at Citi Field. The
Nationals and Marlins are tied in Washington, the Mets currently lead the Nats
by 8 ½ games. If the Nats lose, their
lead will be 9 games. Saturday afternoon is game 2 of the series; Noah
Syndergaard (8-6 3.20) goes for the Mets, Michael Pineda (10-8 4.25)

How sweet has this second half been. Wow in my wildest dreams (as the Moody Blues would say) I never would have come up with this script but I'm lovin it. So how can management not make a REAL offer to YC....are u listening boys?
