Castillo, Chris Evert, Momar, Hidalgo... and Ronn Reynolds

Luis Castillo:

Luis Castillo looks increasingly likely to remain the Mets' second baseman in 2010. The Mets' attempts to trade Castillo to the Cubs in a deal that would send outfielder Milton Bradley to a third team haven't gone anywhere for several weeks, nor has dialogue elsewhere been fruitful. -  NYDN

Clint Everts:

Everts is NOT related to Chris Evert, and doesn’t even play tennis as far as we know. He was, however, a high school teammate of Scott Kazmir, and at one time was the #1 prospect of the Montreal Expos (they used to be a team in Canada). However, he never quite lived up to the billing that made him the fifth overall pick of the 2002 draft. He was plagued by elbow injuries (yes, he had TJ surgery) and control problems. Supposedly, he has “electric” stuff, but has yet to really put it together. He pitched very well in the minors last year, but most of it was spent in A ball, where he was a bit old for his competition. Still, he’s worth a shot — the Mets need all the young arms they can find. - mets today

Omar Minaya:

The Mets have no money to spend on the free-agent market after GM Omar Minaya ran up a $101,500 hotel bill by removing every item from the mini-bar, ordering all the in-room movies, sending out his laundry and placing long-distance phone calls from his room.

Richard Hidalgo:

Magallanes 6, Lara 5 - Richard Hidalgo had three hits and scored twice to help the first-place Navegantes edge the Cardenales. The former Major Leaguer came home with the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning after Jolbert Cabrera misplayed Michael Ryan's one-out single. Brewers shortstop Alcides Escobar had three hits and two RBIs to raise his average to .387 for Lara, which squandered a four-run lead - mlb

Ronn Reynolds:

Everybody's got a few of those prospects who you're sure is the guy they have to give a shot to even though you have no reason to back that assertion up. Ronn Reynolds was one of mine. I still have no reason to back it up, but he didn't play enough to make back down. -  faithandfear
