Matt Fox gives the 51’s a quality start: 6.0 IP, 3 R, 2 ER, 7 H, 0 BB, 5 K.
Reliever Sean Henn (L, 2-5) allowed the winning run to score in the bottom of the 7th inning: 0 H, 2 BB.
John Church came in for the 8th, and did what he’s been doing in Las Vegas: 0 R, H, 0 BB.
Ruben Tejada: 2-3, 2B, BB, RBI, R. Ruben is now hitting .303 in 120 AB in his rehab assignment in Vegas, and its time to ask whether he has done enough to win back his starting SS job in Flushing, or if he will need to prove himself in the majors before he is given the job back.
Wilmer Flores: 2-4. Wilmer played 3B today and is hitting .322 with 14 HR and a league leading 85 RBI. With Wright on the DL, serious consideration should be given to bringing Flores up to replace David at 3B for the duration of his stint on the DL.
Binghamton (69-43) holds off Harrisburg (61-53) 3-2.
Logan Verritt (W, 10-6) looked good in this start: 5.0 IP, 2 R, 3 H, BB, 7 K.
Three Mets relievers, Chasen Bradford, (2.0 IP, 2 H) Chase Hutchingson (1.0 IP, 2 H, 0 BB) and Jeff Walters (S, 32) (1.0 IP, H) made the 3-2 lead they inherited stand up, not allowing another run for the rest of the game.
Danny Muno: 1-2, 2 BB, 2 R.
Travis d’Arnaud: 2-4, HR, 2B, 2 RBI, R.
Travis Taijeron: 2-4, 2B.
St Lucie (60-46) clobbers Clearwater (53-55) 11-3.
A quality start for Michael Fulmer: (W, 1-2) 6.0 IP, 3 R, 3 H, 4 BB, 4 K.
Angel Cuan (2.0 IP, H, BB, 2 K) and T.J. Chism (1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 BB, 2 K) did not allow a run in their stints.

Of the three Sand Gnats relievers, only Tyler Vanderheiden allowed a hit (1.2 IP, 3 K) while both Paul Sewald (W, 3-2) (also 3 K) and Beck Wheeler (S, 13) (only 1 K) were perfect, each for 1.0 inning.

After a poor start to their season, the Cyclones have finally pulled to 1 game over .500.

John Mincone was not his usual self, giving up 2 R, on 2 H, 0 BB, with 2 K in 2.2 innings.
Johnny Magliozzi, (S, 3) however, was perfect in the 9th, with 1 K.

Robert Coles (L, 1-1) didn’t have it tonight, giving up 3 R on 2 H (HR) and 2 BB, with 1 K, over his 2.0 innings.

GCL Nationals (32-6) again maul GCL Mets (11-27) 9-5.

Gaither Bumgardner, is finally coming around, going a perfect inning (1 K) to end the game.

DSL Rangers (41-13) mash DSL Mets2 (32-22) 11-4.
Adonis Uceta (L, 2-2) had a bad day: 2.2 IP, 6 R, 5 ER, 6 H, 2 BB, K.
Hengelbert Rojas: 2-4, 2B, RBI, R. In his first four games for the DSL Mets2 this year, the 19 year old Rojas is 8-15 - .533/.556/.733/1.289.

I have such a hard time with some of these other sites that have things like the "goat of the night" and slam a, let's say, a 19-year old trying to adjust himself to the grind.
What a piss pour thing to do to a kid just starting out.
And you wonder why Mets plays don't wan to talk to you guys...
I'm getting a bit annoyed that Flores hasn't gotten the call yet. This team could really use him in the lineup with wright out.
DePo has said he's blocked....
Apparently, the Mets, a team starved for offense and without their best hitter, don't need a potential impact bat that could possibly inject the team with a much needed jolt.
Flores has a knack for knocking in runs. Earlier this year, Depo answered a fan question about where Flores was best served playing positionally. His answer was: "in an RBI position." That answer has come back to haunt him. The fan wanted to know where Wilmer would end up playing in the field and DePo basically said it didn't matter, it was his bat that counted.
Now, Justin Turner and Ike Davis stand in his way. I would keep Murphy at second, let Ike and Satin platoon, and send Wilmer to third; keeping Justin Turner where he belongs....ON THE BENCH!!!
This move weakens an already weak bench and I suspect has more to do with making sure Duda has a place to play when he gets back, then it does about what's best for the Mets. This isn't about winning as many games as possible. They want Duda in left, EYjr at second, and Murph at third. Turning the team back into crappy, no offense team it was in the first half.

I want Duda no where near the OF. If they have a spot at first then fine. But the past few weeks has really showed me how much value a good defensive OF has to this team.
Justin - It is frustrating that we need more offense and Wilmer remains down on the farm, but the Mets are in something of a box. More on that . .
Charley - It seems like you are putting some of the blame on dePo . . but he is telling it like it is. Flores is blocked by his defensive limitations. The Mets must have a backup to Quintanilla, and Turner is the only one who fills that bill right now. Satin is your other infielder on the bench. So essentially, Alderson and Collins must choose between Satin and Flores. Satin has been hot since his elevation, making the decision on Flores very tough. Does Satin play a better 1B and 3B than Flores? I suspect so. If Satin was hiting .238 instead of .308 it would be an easier decision. I don't wish anyone bad, and I root like hell for all our players, but if Satin continues to hit like he has for the last month or so, you will see Flores here in short order.
Make no mistake, Ike Davis has nothing to do with this. He is your regular 1B until he proves he can't do the job. . and that doesn't look like it is happening any time soon. He is still our strongest defensive 1B, and now it seems he has begun to hit again. In the second half, in 16 games - 52 PA's, his slash line is .317/.462/.512/.974. You are not bringing Flores up and sending Ike down under any circumstances.
Regarding Duda, I too hope he doesn't get his LF job back any time soon. We are much better off with an OF of EYJ - Lagares - Byrd, with Murphy on second than we are with Duda - Lagares - Byrd and Young on second. (or Young on the bench) But there again, the Mets are in something of a box, because they don't want to diminish Duda's trade value by benching him or leaving him in the minors. What's a fella to do?
