The Miracle 1969 regular season winds down on this afternoon

single in the 1st. They added another in the 4th on Cleon
Jones’ fielder’s choice groundout. In the 4th Ron Santo put the Cubs
on the board with a HR and an inning later Willie Smith’s RBI double pulled
Chicago within a run.
The Cubs took the lead for good in the 6th

Chicago up for good, 5-3.
The Mets finish the 1969 regular season 100-62, 8 games
ahead of the Cubs and will face the NL West champion Atlanta Braves in a best
