7/11/15

DOWN UNDER: Mets Minor League Results 7-10-15

STARS OF THE DAY: Gavin Cecchini and Amed Rosario both with 4 hits. And a lethal C. Montgomery relief outing.

HONORABLE MENTION: Alex Castellanos hitting, and Audry German and Joel Huertas dealing.

Scores:

Las Vegas 8 -  Salt Lake City 4

Binghamton 7 - Portland 3

St Lucie 5 - Lakeland 4

Savannah - Lexington postponed

Brooklyn 5 - Hudson Valley 6, 12 innings

Kingsport 3 - Elizabethton 2

GCL Mets 4 - Marlins 5

DSL:
Mets #1    7 - Mariners 8

Mets # 2   1 - Brewers 6

Las Vegas trotted Dillon Gee out to the mound. Gee was so-so, allowing 9 hits and 4 runs in 6 IP (8.04).

Scorching Alex Castellanos had 3 hits, including HR # 15, and 4 RBIs, while hot Brandon Allen (.299) smacked his 9th against a weak SLC pitching staff.

Binghamton starter John Gant was solid, which was enough tonite when supported by 18 hits from B Met hitters, including 10 from its three .300 hitters - Cecchini, Conforto and Eudy Pina  (.303).

St Lucie was down 4-1 late in the game, but similar to Binghamton, the hits never stopped coming.

16 Lucie hits pushed them to 4 late runs and victory, with Amed Rosario accumulating 4 hits, Dominic Smith 2 hits, and Matt Oberste and Victor Cruzado with 3 hits each.

Jeff Walters got the St Lucie win and Robert Coles the save by throwing a scoreless inning each.

Savannah's Corey Oswalt came into the game with a solid 6-3, 3.70 record.  But the game was, sadly, postponed. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Brooklyn started the night at 14-5, with an amazing 2.22 ERA. It went up, but Christian Montgomery continued his renaissance, striking out 4 in 1.2 IP to give him 16 Ks and just 1 walk in 8 scoreless innings this season.  Wow.

Kingsport righty Audry German entered the contest with a 3-0 record. He left 4-0 with 7 innings of one run ball in a taut affair.

The GCL Mets led 3-0 heading into the 8th, when Keaton Aldridge made his professional debut.  He left with a 54.00 ERA and his first career loss.

Joel Huertas toss 6 shutout innings, and rehabbing
Luis Mateo K'd 2 in a perfect inning of relief.  Wow!

Ivan Wilson had a hit, but also struck out 3 more times and now has fanned 13 times in 25 at bats this year.  Not promising at all, as he has now struck out 177 ties in 373 career at bats.

GOAT DU JOUR: Keaton Aldridge. Welcome to the pro ranks.
