That's it, Mets' trading window is CLOSED.

Bye bye Mayberry

Terrible. To good pitchers for two part timers. Congrats Atlanta.

Looks like I am in a minority. Good trade. Adds a strong bat at 3B in Uribe. Johnson, as a utility player, fortifies the bench. I have a sneaky feeling this move makes Flores available to package in a bigger trade for an even better bat, a slugging outfielder or maybe that shortstop I've been praying for all season.

There is always going to be some fan complaining about what minor leaguers leave in a trade.
Odds are Uribe and Johnson will be worth more to the Mets the rest of this season, than Whalen and Gant would ever end up for the Mets.
Good ground work to begin helping this team. This type of deal would have had a lot of worth a month ago. Might have even added 2 or more wins.

Now Alderson needs to prove he can make the important move(s) to make the Mets serious contenders.

Phew! Great move, added some help and didn't pay much.

Yeah seriously how far were those other guys away in the depth charts? You got so many guys ahead of them including Montero/Fulmer/Meisner/Ynoa/Cessa etc. Kicking guys like Muno/Mayberry to the crub will help this team a lot.

How good would Gomez and Braun look on this team now??

Braun would be great

This is the type of deal you make for utility/bench/support players, not dealing your top players for Ben f'n Zobrist.

Gomez could provide the leadoff.
Braun hitting 3rd or 4th.
Then the rest of the team better fit the role-playing spots in the lineup such as 2nd, 6th, 7th, & 8th.
Hopefully Murphy and Duda step up into the open 3rd or 4th spot and 5th.
Suddenly looks like a real lineup.

This is a good deal for the 2015 Mets...

The Mets had an immediate need to improve their 25-man bats without sacrificing their young arms.

I like Whalen but frankly neither of these guys stood a chance of cracking the Mets rotation from now through 2020.

You have to make deals like this if you want to make the playoffs THIS YEAR

Oh yeah... you also have to beat the Dodgers in your home.

I like it but I wouldn't like it if that is all they do. If we can get d'Arnuad back and Conforto hits a little the additions of Uribe and Johnson would be hufe but they still need the one big bat. A hot Duda wouldn't hurt but I'm beginning to loose confidence that that will happen. I would like to see Gomez or Parra in a Mets uniform.

This is a band aid put over a severely severed arm. This move sucks!!!! This is all he can come up with some retreads. I have no problem parting with prospects if its for some thing that is better than we have? Where are they going to play? 2nd and 3rd??? We have those positions covered, we need a shortstop and an outfielder. Horrible trade....

Horrible if this is all there is.

Good if it is followed by great trade or trades in the coming week.

Its a good trade for the Mets. They acquired two actual major league hitters. They can now relieve themselves of a couple of under .200 hitting bats.
Now its time to see if anything else occurs, or if the front office simolyt prays that TDA, Blevins and Montero come back healthy, and Duda........well Duda needs to hit because there's no other first baseman waking out that duggout this year.

I'd be sad to see him go, and will not be surprised if he becomes a regular .290 20+ HR guy. But given how much they like Herrera behind him, I'm thinking it's possible they package Flores, Neise and one or more prospects for a big bat. That said, I have no idea who that would be.

This is all its gonna be buddy, don't get your hopes up!!! Just like when they signed Cuddyer, we thought there was another play to be made but there wasn't.
In all seriousness this was a wasted move we should have kept those pieces for something bigger.

Johnson/Uribe is a great trade…two professional ballplayers/bats….it provides flexibility and allows for further moves.

This will test this manager’s ability to mix, match and optimize.

Fantastic Deal!!!!

It may not be a blockbuster but at worse it gives Collins someone better than the pitchers to pinch hit. Every time I saw Mayberry up there I wanted to see Collins put deGrom or Syndergaard in to bat for him. deGrom could hit but in a clutch situation I would rather have Johnson or Uribe hitting for him. At best it leads to a bigger trade that helps the Mets even more. Either way I lie it. Had we included Fulmer in the trade I would be crying but they didn't.

David Wright is the enigma in all of this. If he comes back soon and can play, it really affects all decisions. Only the Mets know how much he might be expected to contribute...unless they have no ideas and their fingers crossed. Ctoo bad Wright was not cleared for baseball two weeks ago so we'd know.

Third has been a disaster, and these vets are mainly bench, and spot starters. The team is looking at other trades. Develop some patience!!!

Try looking at the half full part of the glass! You dont know what the Mets will and will not do!!!

You that Collins is the Mets manager right? He will screw something up for the team!
