9-30-14 - 9-30-14 – Through The Fence - 12. Miami Marlins — Ian Happ, 2B/OF, Cincinnati - A switch-hitter with excellent bat speed and raw power, some of Happ’s value will depend on whether teams think he can stick at second base. He does has the arm, speed and bat to hold down a corner outfield spot and is a first-round pick wherever he ends up in the field. Over 56 games as a freshman, he hit .322/.451/.483 with six home runs, 25 stolen bases and a whopping 47 walks to 32 strikeouts. He put up nearly identical numbers as a sophomore, hitting .322/.443/.497 over 51 games with 13 doubles, five home runs and 19 stolen bases. He drew 32 walks to 35 strikeouts, showing a solid approach at the plate. He impressed scouts once again at the Cape this summer, hitting .329 over 43 games with 12 doubles, four home runs and eight stolen bases. http://throughthefencebaseball.com/2015-mlb-draft-mock-1-0/44039
9-11-14 – Fangraphs Top 50 Players in Draft - 13. Ian Happ, 2B/CF, Cincinnati: The 5’11/190 switch-hitter doesn’t have a first round type frame and has bounced around the field defensively, but flashes above average hit/power tools and plus speed. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/2015-mlb-draft-top-51/

8-28-14 – Baseball America – Ian Happ, of, Harwich (Jr., Cincinnati) - Happ ranked No. 2 on this list after his boffo 2013 summer, but moving from the infield to the outfield depresses his value a bit. But his calling card is his bat, and he continued to hit this summer, finishing at .329 with four homers and a league-best 12 doubles in 149 at-bats. A switch-hitter with a compact stroke, especially from the left side, Happ rips hard line drives to all fields, and many scouts project him as a plus hitter. He is also strong enough to drive balls out of the park, with solid-average or slightly better power. Happ is a hard-nosed, high-energy player whose aggressiveness translates to all aspects of the game. He is physically mature and has slowed down a step since last year, but he is still an above-average runner. He also has a 55 arm. He should hit enough if he winds up in left field, and some scouts still think he has a chance to play second base, though he lacks fluid infield actions. http://www.baseballamerica.com/college/cape-cod-league-top-30-prospects-2/?sm_id=social_20140828_30631946
7-9-14 - B/R - 6. Boston Red Sox Select Cincinnati 2B Ian Happ - Cincinnati isn't exactly a baseball hot bed, having never produced a first-round draft pick. That will change in 2015 thanks to stellar second baseman Ian Happ. The Bearcats star has done nothing but hit in his two years with the program. He put up a .322/.443/.497 line this season and was dazzling during a stint in the Cape Cod League as a freshman two years ago with five homers against pitchers two and three years older. Happ is a tremendous athlete with excellent strength despite his 5'10", 175-pound frame. He's played second base in college but has the speed to handle center field at the next level. His eye at the plate is outstanding, and everything that comes off the bat is loud. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2085268-mlb-mock-draft-2015-brs-official-early-predictions-for-next-years-top-10/page/2

6-19-14 - Harwich 6, Hyannis 3 - In the first extra innings contest of the season, the Harwich Mariners (6-1) bested the Hyannis Harbor Hawks (4-3) 6-3 at McKeon Park. A solo home run in the second fromCarl Wise put the Harbor Hawks on the board first and would keep them on top for the next two innings. But a RBI double from Brendon Sanger tied the game at one apiece in the fifth. That wouldn’t be the last time the two teams found themselves in a tied ballgame as consistent hitting on both sides kept the game close. The Mariners tallied 12 hits total with all but one of the starting line up notching at least one hit. Harwich center fielder Ian Happ continued his hitting steak going 2-for-5 with a walk and a RBI while Bobby Melley also went 2-for-5 with a RBI for Hyannis. Ultimately it was a three-run 11th inning for the Mariners starting with a lead off single from Angelo Amendolare that would give Harwich their third straight win.
6-4-14 - Cincinnati's Ian Happ might be the first second baseman drafted come June 2015. He has excellent power for an infielder from both sides of the plate. In addition, he adds excellent speed to the bases

College sophomore: .322/.443/.497, 5-HR, 19-SB

Would be a nice pickup if he makes it to the Mets.
