B-Mets Sending Four to All-Star Classic

Pitchers Luis Cessa and Paul Sewald along with infielder Josh Rodriguez and outfielder Brandon Nimmo will represent the Binghamton Mets at the 2015 Eastern League All-Star Classic in 
Portland on Wednesday, July 15. It marks the third straight season the B-Mets will send at least four players to the annual event. A full list of Binghamton’s All-Star selections has been included at the end of this release.

Cessa, 23, enjoys his first career All-Star selection. The former position player has excelled since converting to the mound in 2011. In his first full season at Double-A the righty has won a team-best seven games and compiled a 2.56 ERA, ranked seventh-best in the league. The native of Cordoba Vera Cruz, Mexico has allowed one run or less while throwing six innings or more in five of his last six starts.

Sewald, 25, will be heading to his first career All-Star game. Serving as Binghamton’s closer, the Las Vegas product has posted a 1.67 ERA and racked up 14 saves, fourth-best in the league. His .193 opponent batting average is the ranks him tied for fifth among league relievers. The righty has successfully converted his last 13 save chances.

Rodriguez, 30, is ticketed for his third Eastern League All-Star appearance and second as a B-Met. The Houston native represented the Akron Aeros in his first year at Double-A in 2008 and was a Mid-Season All-Star again with the B-Mets in 2013. Rodriguez leads the league with 13 home runs and is second with 50 RBI.

Nimmo, 22, enjoys his third straight All-Star game selection. The Cheyenne, Wyoming product was an All-Star with Savannah in 2013 and St. Lucie in 2014. 

Despite missing four weeks due to injury, the B-Mets center fielder is hitting .292 and is coming off a career-best 14-game hitting streak.
