Mets signed 22 year old undrafted free agent LHP Colton Cosper on 8/5/25.

Today, 8/13/25, Colton Cosper in his pro debut pitching for Low A St. Lucie Mets

5 inn   3 H   0 ER   0 BB    2 K   32 of 46 for strikes

Have a day young man.

First glance checking box score/gamecast they have Cosper as a kitchen sink junk ball thrower. Not even sure if they couldnt figure out his FB but they literally only credited him with 1 fastball thrown the entire 5 innings under 90 mph, the rest labeled as CH, CU, SL

                Repertoire –

Changeup: A zone-filling pitch thrown at 83-84 mph, which appears as a slower fastball before dipping below batters' swings, creating deception.

Slider: A mid-70s pitch with significant lateral movement, starting on one side of the plate and swerving dramatically, making it difficult for hitters to track.

His pitching style is described as that of a "touch-feel" lefty with a compact arm path and a lower slot release (approximately 4.9 feet), which enhances his deception. During his time with the Williamsport Crosscutters in the MLB Draft League, Cosper demonstrated excellent control, striking out 20 batters while issuing just one walk over 17 innings, with a 0.53 ERA.

Tyler Rogers doesn’t miss bats - but his speciality is clearing the base paths.

After allowing a weak-velo leadoff single:

Ground ball .130 xBA force out

Ground ball .110 xBA single

Ground ball .060 xBA double play

Brett Baty ready to heat back up?

106.1 MPH EV

27 degree LA

412 feet

77 MPH bat speed

HR in 30/30 parks!

Cedric Mullins entered today with 15 home runs on the season, all pulled.

His first home run as a Met happens to be to opposite field

THE BREWERS ARE COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS

The Mets are now closer in the standings to the Giants and Cardinals, teams that sold to the Mets at the deadline, than they are to the first-place Phillies...

Brooklyn Cyclones          @BKCyclones

Marco Vargas drove in three runs, and the Cyclones took the finale in Hudson Valley on Sunday afternoon.

Sandy Koufax's elbow pain that began in 1964 had become unbearable, and the Dodgers team  physician Dr. Robert Kerlan, diagnosed the problem as traumatic arthritis that would only get worse.

Koufax had tried a variety of remedies, including cortisone shots, ice buckets, Capsolin ointment, codeine, and a horse anti-inflammatory called phenylbutazone, or "Bute".

By his late 20s, Koufax could no longer fully straighten his left arm. When he had a new sports jacket made, the left sleeve was noticeably shorter than the right. At times the fingers on that hand would go numb, causing him to drop whatever he was holding.

Sometimes the pain was so bad he couldn’t even shave with that hand. He was worried he'd eventually lose use of the arm completely.

"Maybe I won’t earn as much outside of baseball," he later said. "But if you were going to have to go through without the use of a limb, you would give any amount to buy it back. Perhaps, in effect, that is what I am doing." Koufax also was told the cortisone would eventually harm his kidneys and liver, and who knows what effect long-term phenylbutazone  use would have on him, it was eventually discontinued for use on humans. The mix of drugs made him feel queasy and lightheaded.

Koufax secretly decided 1966 would be his last season, and he had  an amazing year:

27-9, 1.73 ERA, (190 ERA+), 0.985 WHIP.

Koufax won the Cy Young Award for the third time, the first ever to do so, and was the  runner-up, behind Roberto Clemente for National League MVP.

Koufax announced his retirement.

He was five weeks shy of his 31st birthday.

Pull him after 5

5 innings? Every 5th day? Koufax would still be pitching.

Time flies. Seaver won his 300th in August 1985, 40 years ago.

Sandy was my one and only baseball idol and he's never done anything to blemish what a quality human being he is. Still remember LA beating the Yanks in 4 in 63' and his remarkable game 7 win in 65' and his stand on not pitching on a Jewish holiday just goes to show what a special person he was. Live long and prosper my friend.

Has anyone ever seen another team utilize the strategy we are using w/ the Baby Mets? They plugged Baty in for Vientos when he was on that hitting streak. watch him struggle, and then as soon as he builds momentum, they sit him for Vientos - who is cold. Did the same thing w/ Mauricio and Marte. very strange. Smh
