MORE WHIFFS THAN A FARTING FESTIVAL
Mets’ Pitchers’ Minors K’s Galore!
On a night when several promoted hitters debuted at their new levels last night, the Mets’ minors pitchers excelled without Tong, Sproat or McLean.
How so?
Strikeouts. Lots and lots of strikeouts.
56 in all. I will do the math for you - an average of 14 Ks per game.
In the Syracuse, Binghamton, Brooklyn, and St Lucie games last night, their pitchers fanned tons of batters.
Binghamton’s six pitchers fanned 17, including 4 by Tylor Megill in a 41 pitch rehab outing, in a 5-3 win.
St Lucie had one of its pitchers have a bad outing, but the lads still fanned 12 in a 6-1 loss.
Brooklyn fanned 15 in a 3-0 win, with Will Watson fanning 7 in 4 innings.
Watson pitched far better than Holmes last night.
Syracuse, with Dom Hamel fanning 4 in 2 innings as an opener, fanned 12 in a 2-1 win. Benge had a hit, Clifford a walk, and Jett took an 0 for 4.
So many pitchers were used in those 4 games. I did not count them, but it was more than a dozen.
Spread the wealth. Everybody in the pool.
It wasn’t all gravy in the Mets minors for pitchers, though.
One of the 2 DSL teams (the BLUE) surrendered 18 runs in 6 innings, allowing 16 hits and 10 walks.
A 5.74 team ERA. Them pitchers need to find another line of work? But 18 of the 52 DSL teams have worse ERAs, so maybe there’s hope.
Meanwhile…last evening, multiple explosions in the skies of Queens were reported on Newsmax…
They were later identified as 2 long HRs by Pete (passing Straw), 2 more by Alvarez, and Nimmo and Baty each added one.
It was a big ol’ hitting party in Queens.
The Mets? Crushed sputtering Spencer Strider and the Busted Braves.
A 13-5 butt-whipping. All Mets’ players scalps remained intact on heads.
Soto got a hit, and Soto got the win. Justice Sonia Sotomayor smiled.
Justin Hagenman?
He was great. 3.26 ERA.
And a 4 scoreless inning save.
So stop calling him “Justin Who?”
Who is on first, and his name is Pete.
A statement game?
Rocky up off the canvas?
To be determined.
But it alleviated ulcers last night.
All it took was soothing pink Pepto Long Ball.

Hagenman will go down making room for Blackburn
He’ll be BACK.
I don’t like Blackburn for the pen. His stuff is feeble.
He is marginally talented. Last man up?
He will stand aside when McLean comes up
