NY Post: Mets’ win streak halted at seven as Syndergaardgets hammered. “The Mets (59-51), who lost for the first time since acquiring Yoenis Cespedes on July 31, saw their lead on the Nationals in the NL East sliced to 1 ½ games. The Nationals beat the Rockies 6-1. Syndergaard (6-6) was finished after four innings in which he allowed five earned runs on eight hits with six strikeouts and two walks…The Mets scored four runs in the first two innings and then went into a slumber, going hitless over the final four against Tampa Bay’s bullpen. Collins noted the fact the Mets struck out 15 times…Two lapses contributed to the Mets falling into a 5-4 hole in the fourth. First, Syndergaard bounced a wild pitch, allowing John Jaso to reach third with two outs. Moments later, Evan Longoria hit a slow grounder, on which Ruben Tejada double-clutched — he said he couldn’t immediately grip the ball — for an infield RBI single.”
