NY Post: Bartolo Colon dominates as Mets pound pitiful Phillies again. "Colon (11-11) threw seven shutout innings, as he allowed five hits and walked two. It was a much-needed strong start for the Mets, who endured short outings from Jacob deGrom and Noah Syndergaard the previous two nights...Michael Cuddyer gave the Mets a cushion with a monstrous two-run homer in the eighth that reached the second deck in left field. In the ninth, the Mets received additional insurance runs on Curtis Granderson’s RBI double, Yoenis Cespedes’ ensuing triple and a Daniel Murphy sacrifice fly."
ESPN.com: "[The Phillies] rallied against the bullpen in the eighth. Andres Blanco had an RBI groundout against Eric O'Flaherty and Cameron Rupp hit a two-run double off Carlos Torres. Pinch-hitter Jeff Francoeur had an RBI single off Tyler Clippard, but the righty struck out Darnell Sweeney to leave two runners on. Clippard got the final four outs for his 19th save and second with the Mets."
Nationals lose 6-5 to the Padres to drop 6 and a half back of the 1st place Mets.
