The Florida State League announced St. Lucie Mets pitcher Tyler Pill has been selected as the Topps Player of the Month for July.
Pill went 5-0 with a 1.55 ERA in July. In five starts, he struck out 28 and walked seven in 29 innings while allowing just five earned runs and 21 hits.
Pill won five consecutive games in July and allowed just one earned run in all five starts. He gave up four hits or less in four of five appearances and he struck out seven batters three times.
The 22-year-old has a 6-1 record with a 1.82 ERA through 10 appearances with the Mets.
Pill, a 6-1, 185-pound righthander from Covina, California, was a fourth round draft pick by the Mets out of Cal State Fullerton in the 2011 draft.
