Andrew Thurman – Y-D Red Sox – RHP - Y-D pitcher Andrew
Thurman (UC Irvine) put himself on the map with an incredible pitching
performance that guaranteed him this week’s Coca Cola’s Pitcher of the Week. In
Y-D’s outing versus Falmouth last Sunday, Thurman tossed a complete game
shut-out, striking out 13 Commodores and only allowing three hits in the 9
innings that he pitched. Along with the seven strikeouts he hurled last night
against Cotuit, Thurman brought his record to 45 strikeouts, fifth best in the
league thus far. Thurman, currently a sophomore at UC Irvine, hails from
Orange, Calif. He finished the 2012 season going 8-3, leading the team with 69
strikeouts and posting a sparkling 2.66 ERA.

The Coastal Plain League
announced today that Morehead City’s Matt Wainman was
honored as the Rawlings Pitcher of the Week for week nine of action (July
24-29). Wainman twirled a gem on the mound for the Marlins, carrying out a
complete game shutout to earn the win and lower his season ERA to 1.32 on the
year. Over the nine innings, the 6-2, 220-pound southpaw product of William
& Mary walked no batters and allowed three hits, only one of which was an
extra base hit. His eight strikeouts and .100 opponent batting average were tops

SIU-Edwardsville. Verschoore is ranked No. 27 in the Class of 2013
Nick Rumbelow (LSU) - Nick came into the summer working out
of the bullpen for the 2012 season for the LSU Tigers and has continued that
with the Wareham Gatemen. He has appeared in 14 games this summer, with a
record of 1-0 with a 3.32 ERA in 21.2 innings pitched. Rumbelow has dominated
