Stefan Sabol knocked in two of Brooklyn’s three runs on Friday night, as the Cyclones shutout the Connecticut Tigers 3-0.

Brandon Nimmo began the bottom of the first with a line drive double to right. He was plated on a double by Phillip Evans that went over the head of left fielder Danry Vasquez and to the wall. A couple batters later, Stefan Sabol hit a two-out, two-run home run to left, giving the Cyclones a 3-0 lead.

Brooklyn starting pitcher Luis Cessa earned the win, holding the Tigers to just two hits in 5.0 innings of work. Cessa retired the first five batters of the game before allowing a two-out single to Tyler Hanover in the second. The Tigers managed their second hit in the following frame – another single, this time off the bat of Bennett Pickar.

Connecticut starter Tim Kelley suffered the loss as he gave up three earned runs off seven hits. Kelley walked two and struck out four over 4.0 innings.

The Cyclones had the bases loaded in the fifth and seventh innings, but failed to capitalize on their chance to score. The team left nine men on base and was 2-for-14 with runners in scoring position.

After Matt Bowman threw 3.0 hitless innings of relief, John Mincone came in to pitch a perfect ninth and pick up his fourth save of the year.
