LUCAS RECEIVES FSL PLAYER OF THE WEEK AWARD

PORT ST. LUCIE, FLA-The Florida State League announced today St. Lucie Mets first baseman Richard Lucas is the recipient of the Player of the Week award after a strong performance at the plate from July 30 through August 5.

Lucas batted .435 with two home runs and four RBIs in six games. He had 10 hits, two doubles, scored six runs, and three stolen bases. The Mets infielder had a .480 on-base percentage and a .783 slugging percentage.

Lucas went 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs in a 9-1 Mets victory over Fort Myers on Sunday. He has hit safely in four straight games and has registered two consecutive three-hit games.

In 102 games, Lucas is hitting .249 with eight home runs, 40 RBIs, 21 doubles, and 17 stolen bases.

Lucas was drafted by the Mets in the fourth round in the 2007 draft out of Wolfson High School in Jacksonville, FL.

Lucas was the first Met to be recognized with the Player of the Week award during the 2012 Florida State League season.
