B-Mets Bash Suns in 12-4 Spring Victory

PORT ST. LUCIE, FL – Five different Binghamton Mets homered in a 12-4 win over the Jacksonville Suns in a spring training game on Wednesday afternoon at the New York Mets facility. Amed Rosario, Michael Conforto, LJ Mazzilli, Dominic Smith and Victor Cruzado all went deep for the B-Mets in their second win of the spring.

Conforto, a 22-year-old outfielder out of Oregon State University, was selected by the Mets in the first round of last year’s draft. The Washington native drove in three runs against the Suns. Conforto made his pro debut with the Brooklyn Cyclones (SS-A), hitting .331 over 42 games in 2014.

Smith, a first-round pick in 2013, compiled a multiple-hit game while Rosario tripled in addition to his home run.

On the mound, 2014 B-Met Gabriel Ynoa allowed two runs over four innings. Domingo Tapia added two scoreless innings of relief.

The B-Mets venture to Jupiter, Florida on Thursday afternoon to take on the Springfield Cardinals.

Victor Cruzado is my stealth Met MinL this year. Actually I've been on his case for 3 years now.

Wow. Love to see who got the hitting done in that minor league spring game. Offense everywhere.

Are Conforto, Rosario, and Smith making the jump to AA??

Regarding the question, "Are Conforto, Rosario, and Smith making the jump to AA??" I'd wondered about that too. But my guess is there are guys playing above where they will end up, including guys in the Mets' spring training who will be sent down, and it will push everyone down. I can't picture Rosario being higher than St Lucie, more likely Savannah.

Conforto maybe, Smith more likely to St Lucie - but they could be killing it in spring camp and ready for more and we'd not know.

We'll know in a week or so.

First of all, never get confused regarding who plays for what minor league team in a spring training game. It has nothing to do with who they break camp with.

Many times they are influenced on who is sent over to the Big Boys clubouse (or put on the bus for an away game) for late inning relief. Many of these guys are slotted for AA.

I expect both Conforto and Smith to play A+ for St. Lucie.

My guess is Rosario will play Savannah or, at most, St. Lucie

They will all start in PSL except for Rosario, who will be in Savannah. Cecchini will be at PSL to start the year since he is blocked at AA and AAA by Reynolds, Tovar and Rivera.

My prediction: Cecchini AA, Rosario A+, Smith A+, Conforto A+

I don't think you can let guys like Tovar and Rivera "block" Cecchini.

First round picks don't get blocked by placeholders.
