Noah Syndergaard's First Inning: 1-2-3

22-year-old Noah Syndergaard's hardest pitch of the first inning, a 97 MPH fastball that resulted in a fly ball out to left.
"Thor"'s first inning: Sets them down 1-2-3 with a fly out, strikeout on a real nice looking curve, then a soft liner to short that Flores picked off the top of his shoes.

Update: After taking a 1-0 lead on a Lagares run, Thor labored in the second inning. A couple of walks compounded a bad error by Michael Cuddyer on a pick-off throw and a passed ball by d'Arnaud. Down 2-1 after two runs crossed the plate, Syndergaard ended his outing with a nasty curve on a 3-2 pitch.

You cannot read too much into spring training outings like this, but I like the call to throw a 3-2 curve with the bases loaded to end his day. Beautiful pitch, nice call, perfect execution.

Gilmartin will pitch next, followed by Mejia and Familia to round out the day. Last update for now. One of the writers will have a recap of the game tonight.

Great to see baseball on the tube again, even if it's an exhibition game.

3 of my bench favorites made their case today. Muno hit and walk in 2 plate appearances, Dekker with a key 2 run double, and Matt Reynolds (the guy with no supposed power) hitting a walk off game winning HR. As Austin Powers might say, "Yeah, baby, yeah!"
