Harrisburg 3, Binghammton 2

The Harrisburg Senators scored all their runs with two outs to hand theBinghamton Mets a 3-2 defeat Wednesday night at NYSEG Stadium. The B-Mets werelimited to five hits and had only two at-bats with runners in scoring position,suffering just their third loss in the last nine games.

Harrisburgtook the game wire-to-wire, grabbing a lead in the second inning with a two-outrally against B-Mets starter Gonzalez Germen. Justin Bloxom sent a double toleft center to start the rally and scored on a single threaded down the leftfield line by Devin Ivany. Dustin Martin’s bobble in left allowed Ivany to takesecond, setting the stage for an RBI single by Jonathan Tucker.

TheB-Mets were kept in check through the first four innings by starter KevinPucetas who allowed just two baserunners. Binghamton broke through in the fifthwith some two-out hitting of their own. Wilfredo Tovar doubled, took third on aground out and scored when Germen shot an RBI single up the middle.

Harrisburgcame back with more offense in the sixth against Germen. James Skelton shot asingle to center and came home on Zach Walters’ two-out triple to right center.

Pucetas’night ended after five innings. Paul Demny posted a scoreless sixth and handedoff to Marcos Frias in the seventh. Martin helped the B-Mets scratch within onewith a leadoff single and took second on a sac bunt. With two outs andpinch-hitter Wilmer Flores at the plate, Martin scampered to third on a wildpitch and scored when catcher Ivany’s throw sailed past Tim Pahuta.

Itwas as close as the B-Mets would get as they failed to get another runner tosecond base. Juan Lagares reached on a bunt single in the eighth against HectorNelo, but was thrown out attempting to steal second. Reese Havens followed witha walk, but was erased on a double play. Patrick McCoy worked around a two-outwalk in a shutout ninth, securing his second save.

Pucetas(7-4) allowed one run on three hits over five innings and helped Harrisburgsnap a five-game losing streak. Germen (6-8) suffered his second straight loss.The righty surrendered three runs (two earned) on six hits over seven innings.Frank Francisco threw a scoreless eighth in his fifth rehab game withBinghamton.
