Sunday at Citi Field it was game 162 of the 2014 season, and
Lucas Duda clubbed a 2 run double in the bottom of the 5th inning to
snap a 2-all tie, and then hit his 30th homer in the bottom of the
8th. The Mets finish the season with a 8-3 win over the Astros. Bartolo Colon started and got the win for the
Mets going 6 innings allowing 8 hits 3 runs (all earned) he walked 2 and struck
out 4. The Mets took a 1-0 lead in the
bottom of the first on a sac-fly by Daniel Murphy. Houston tied it in the 2nd on a
ground rule double by Max Stassi. Matt
de Dekker who added 2 hits on the day made it 2-1 Mets in the 3rd
with an RBI double. The Astros tied the game at 2 on an RBI infield hit by Jose
Altuve. The Stros scored their final run
in the 6th on a RBI single by Stassi. Ruben Tejada closed the scoring with a 2 run homer
(5) on the heels of Duda’s blast in the 8th to end the Mets scoring
for the season. Colon improves to 15-12. Carlos Torres pitched a scoreless 7th,
Jeurys Familia struck out the side in the 8th and Jenrry Mejia
pitched the 9th for his 29th save on the season. NY native Nick Tropeano took the loss. Duda finishes with 30 homer and 92 RBI with
the homer, double and 4 RBI on Sunday.
Duda becomes the first Met to hit his 30th homer on the last
day of the season. Bobby Abreu hit a line single to left in the 5th. It was his 2,470th ML hit. He was
taken out of the game for a pinch runner, thus ending his career to a nice
ovation. The Mets finish 2014 79-83, 5
games better than 2013. They finish 40-41 at home. Next up for the Mets they take on the
Nationals on Monday April 6th 2015. Probable pitchers? Matt Harvey (0-0 0.00), Stephen Strasburg
