On the last Saturday night of the season at Citi Field, Lucas
Duda hit a 2 out walk off 2 run homer in the bottom of the 9th the
Mets beat the Astros 2-1. The Mets
trailed all the way. Rafael Montero started for the Mets and blanked the Astros
for most of his 5 1/3 but he yielded at RBI double to Juan Castro to make it 1-0 in the 5th. Six Astro
pitchers held the Mets scoreless and with just 2 hits until the 9th.
With 1 out in the 9th Eric Young Jr. hit a triple. Then with 2 out
Duda hit a line homer off the right field foul pole off Lefty Tony Sipp to win
it. For Duda his 29th homer on the year (only his 2nd
against a left handed pitcher), along with RBIS 87 and 88 on the season. Buddy Carlyle pitched 1 2/3 scoreless, Jeurys
Familia and Jenrry Mejia pitched scoreless frames. Mejia gets the win improving
to 6-6. Sipp took the los. Montero went
5 2/3 he allowed the 1 run (earned) he walked 2 and struck out 6. 161 are in the books, the Mets stand at 78-83
and 39-41 at home. Sunday afternoon is the final game of 2014. Bartolo Colon
(14-13 4.08) goes for the Mets, Nick
Tropeano (1-2 3.78) goes for the Astros.
