Tuesday night in DC, the Nationals continued their dominance
over the Mets with a 4-2 win. Bartolo
Colon started for the Mets. The game was scoreless through 4. In the top of the 5th the Mets took
a 1-0 lead on a ground rule double by Kirk Nieuwenhuis off Tanner Roark. In the bottom of the 5th Adam
LaRoche struck again clubbing a 3 run homer highlighting a 4 run inning to make
it 4-1. For LaRoche his 26th homer on the year. The Mets made it a 2
run game in the 7th on a sac-fly from Ruben Tejada. Colon went 6 innings he allowed 5 hits, 4
runs (all earned) he walked 3 and struck out 4. Colon takes the loss falling to
14-13. Roark went 6 1/3 and allowed both
runs and nabs the win. It’s his 4th win over the Mets this season
and he improves to 15-10 on the year.
Wilmer Flores led the Mets going 2 for 4. LaRoche went 2 for 3 with the
3 RBI. The Mets dreams of a winning
season are over; they stand at 76-81 and 38-41 on the road. Wednesday night is game two of the series.

Gio Gonzales (9-10 3.74) goes for Washington.
