Tuesday night at Citi Field, Wilmer Flores had a career
night hitting 2 homers and driving in 6, the Mets blow out the Marlins 9-1. Leading into the bottom of the 4th
the Mets trailed 1-0. Bartolo Colon was
the Mets starter, and while he gave up 12 hits in his outing he was able to
hold the Marlins to the 1 run. That came in the top of the 3rd on a RBI
infield single by Christian Yelich. In
the 4th the Mets scored 4 times to take the lead for good. Flores started the rally with an RBI
double. Curtis Granderson gave the Mets
the lead with an RBI single. Ruben Tejada followed with a 2 run double and it
was 4-1. In the 5th Flores
connected for a 3 run homer, his 5th on the year and it was
7-1. In the 7th Flores
clubbed his 6th homer to make it 9-1. Overall Flores went 3 for 4 with
the 6 RBI. Granderson remains hot also going 3 for 4. Tejada and Lucas Duda
also had 2 hits apiece. Colon gets the
win improving to 14-12 going 7 innings allowing 12 hits the 1 run (earned)
striking out 7. Nathan Eovaldi allowed 6 runs on 6 hits in 4 1/3 and took the
loss falling to 6-12. The Mets are now
5-4 on this home stand and are now 38-39 at home. Overall the Mets stand at
73-79. Wednesday night it’s the final
game of the home stand. Dillon Gee (7-7
3.80) goes for the Mets, Henderson Alvarez (10-6
2.81) goes for Miami.
