Thursday night at Citi Field the Nationals came to town and
continued their dominance over the Mets with a 6-2 win. The Loss snaps the Mets
4 game winning streak. Bartolo Colon started for the Mets and the Nats got to
him for 6 runs (5 earned) on 7 hits in 3 innings. Colon was ejected in the top of the 4th
after he plunked Jayson Werth with a pitch following a home run by Anthony
Rendon. Manager Terry Collins was ejected as well. Tanner Roark had the hill for Washington and
all he allowed was single runs by the Mets in the 5th and 7th
innings. Anthony Recker hit a solo homer
in the 5th to make it 6-1, for Recker his 7th homer on
the year. In the 7th Dilson Herrera blooped an RBI single to right
center scoring Lucas Duda. The Met
bullpen held the Nats scoreless after replacing Colon. Diasuke Matsuzaka pitched 3 scoreless, Erik
Goedell, Dario Alvarez and Gonzalez Germen all had scoreless appearances. Rendon went 3 for 5 with the homer and 2 RBI,
Adam LaRoche went 2 for 5 with his 24th homer and 2 RBI. For the
Mets Lucas Duda and Eric Young Jr. each went 2 for 4, Recker went 2 for 3. Colon takes the loss falling to 13-12. Roark
improves to 13-10. The Mets fall to .500 at home with a record of 36-36,
overall they stand at 71-76. Friday
night is game two of the series, Dillon Gee (6-7 3.74) goes for the Mets, Gio Gonzalez
(8-9 3.78) goes for the Nats.
