Thursday afternoon in game one of a split double
header, Matt den Dekker and Wilmer
Flores had RBI singles in the top of the 8 inning to snap a 4-all tie. The Mets
beat the Nationals 7-4. The Mets jumped out to a 4-1 lead against Blake
Treinen. Curtis Granderson made it 1-0 in the first with an RBI single. In the
5th after a RBI single by Daniel Murphy made it 2-1, Granderson
singled home 2 more and it was 4-1 Mets. The Nationals rallied in the bottom of the 5th
against Dillon Gee on a RBI single by Nate Shierholtz and a 2 run single by
Michael Taylor. The Mets took the 6-4
lead in the 8th and then in the 9th Ruben Tejada capped
the scoring with an RBI single to make it 7-4. Granderson went 3 for 4 with 3 RBI, Flores
went 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored and a ribbie. Gee gets the no decision going 5 innings
allowing 9 hits 4 runs (all earned) he walked none and struck out 2. Carlos Torres pitched the 7th,
Jeurys Familia struck out the side in the 8th and Jenrry Mejia
pitched the 9th for this 28th save. Torres picked up the win improving to 8-5. Tyler Clippard takes the loss. The Mets improve to 77-81 an improve to 39-41
on the road.
