Mets Minor League Playoff Report: September 7, 2014

Autumn Leaves: The games have dwindled down to a precious few. Two of our three playoff teams have been eliminated, and only Binghamton is left to protect the honor of the Mets.

Mets Minor League Player of the Day: Binghamton CF Darrell Ceciliani.
For the 2nd day in a row, a Binghamton CF has earned this award. The runner up today is last night’s winner, Brandon Nimmo, who was playing in LF for Bingo today.

Binghamton (3-2) batters Portland (2-3) 8-5 to get to Eastern League Championship Series.

Gabriel Ynoa (W; 1-0) was the beneficiary of a 6 run 4th inning: 5.2 IP, 5 R, 9 H, (HR) BB, 8 K.

Hansel Robles continued to excel as a reliever: 2.1 IP, 9 R, H, (HR) BB, 3 K. (Since his conversion to the pen, Robles sports a 1.80 ERA, 0.85 WHIP, 10.8 K/9, and 3.15 BB/9.)

Cody Satterwhite (S, 1) also polished off a successful season: 1.0 IP, 0 R, H, 0 BB, 2 K. (The Mets may have found something in Satterwhite, signing him in 2013 after a year off due to injury.)

Brandon Nimmo: 3-5, 2B, 2 R. (Another game giving you what you’d hope for from your leadoff hitter.)

Darrell Ceciliani: 2-4, 2 2B, BB, 3 RBI, R. (Ceciliani also had an outfield assist, throwing out a runner trying to stretch a single.) (DC had an outstanding series, batting .389, after finishing the regular season on a high. In August, Ceciliani slashed .357/.402/.452 for an OPS of .855.)

Travis Taijeron: 2-4, 2 RBI.

Wilfredo Tovar: 2-4, 2B, RBI, R.   (Tovar capped off a successful 2014 season with Binghamton, where he hit .282, 22 points over his career minor league avg.)
