B-Mets Extend Lease of NYSEG Stadium

BINGHAMTON, NY – In a ceremony prior to their first game of the Eastern Division Championship Series on Wednesday, the Binghamton Mets announced that they have extended their lease to play at NYSEG Stadium through the 2021 season. B-Mets president Mike Urda, General Manager Jim Weed, Senator Tom Libous and Mayor Rich David shared the news with the B-Mets fans.
Urda said, “While the Binghamton Mets look forward to, as Manager Pedro Lopez says “6 more wins” in our quest for the 2014 Eastern League Championship, we would like to take this opportunity to thank Senator Tom Libous for all he has done to keep sports alive and well in our home community, and we would also like to thank Mayor David and the City of Binghamton for their spirit of cooperation throughout the years. Most of all, we would like to thank B Met fans for their support.”

“The Binghamton Mets organization has been a cornerstone of our community for decades,” said David. “Over the years, the B-Mets have built a tradition of exciting baseball, family fun and a proud connection to our City. I’m excited to announce with our partners that baseball in Binghamton will continue for years to come.”

The B-Mets chose to exercise their option to extend their lease, originally set to expire following the 2016 season, for an additional five seasons. The team has played at NYSEG Stadium, originally named Binghamton Municipal Stadium, since their inception in 1992.
