I've read the stories today on the Jon Niese-Alex Gordon deal that the Mets don't want to do, plus the RA Dickey story Buster Olney wrote that there doesn't seem to be a decent amout of value out there for a Cy Young winner pushing 40.

Then Toronto signs Melky and the Mets sign Brian Bixler... and you have to start to wonder why can't this team pull the trigger anymore?

I really don't care at this point is no more decent players are going to be signed or traded for and, you all know I'm a big fan of keeping all the pitchers and building from there. Just make the announcement, let the players have their Thanksgiving and Christmas, get the kids down to Florida in January for ectended camp and get ready for pitchers and catchers.

I guess it really doesn't matter whether or not if the owners or the team is broke, which we have debated about here a number of times. The important thing is it looks like the team is going to operate on the cheap for 2013.

So, the rotation will be Santana, Dickey, Niese, Harvey and Gee.

Wheeler will enter the equation at some point and I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't correspond with some kind of injury or breakdown within the rotation.

My guess is Mike Pelfrey on the cheap with be in the wings if needed once he heals sometime in the summer.

Your infield is solid, your outfield isn't, your pen is in flux and your catching is a question mark.

Frankly, I'm in a horrible mood and having a hard time focusing on this organization. I worked the overnight shift, have to go back again tonight, the engine light came on in my car, and another big doctor bill from my wife's med problems arrived in the mail. I could care right now about fiscal responsibility.

But, that's okay... who needs a Dickey deal, or Gordon or Melky.

    I'm a minor league wienie...

    We've got Brian Bixler.
