The Mets vaunted cadre of young pitching prospects picked the wrong time of the year to go cold. On this bleak day for Met fans, two of our playoff teams are eliminated, and one stands on the brink, but is also 1 win from copping their series.

Bad news - 2 teams eliminated. Good news - more call ups. I'd call up Dykstra, Muno, and Leathersich, and Plawecki if he will be added to the 40 man roster. Maybe Puello, although not really earned. Maybe Seratelli to give him something to tell the grandkids.
Throw in Akeel Morris, after what might be the most dominant relief season I've ever seen (just 3 hits and a lethal 14Ks per 9, ERA well under 1.00). Sure, it is a big jump, but what the heck.
Maybe Nimmo too, once the playoffs are over. I'd like to see TJ Rivera called up - guys that hit that much deserve a reward.
Logan Verrett may have lost, but impressed me with 11 Ks in 5 innings. Maybe call him up too. Let's have a call up party.
Of all of the suggested call ups, only Puello is currently on 40 man and if you put these players on and then take them off to protecf those eligible, they are subject to waivers. None of those players, except for may be Puello and one other will get called up. There is a lot of work to do on the Rule 5 to begin without trying to clear 7 spots from the 40 man roster for 19 games. Now the mets could massacre the 40 man after the minor playoffs are over, but I doubt Sandy would cause that sort of turmoil with 3 weeks left in the season and only those getting protected would be called up any way
Good point, but I as a fan would then want such rules changed. I hate seeing guys shut out from call ups due to rules
My guess is the call-ups may be over
But rules dictate so much of what the team does. Consider the Super Two rule and the Out of Options Rule. Those rules, as well as Rule 5 eligibility, govern who gets the call and when.
I know that a ML team using the Rule 5 must keep the player on the 25-man roster for the full season.
But what are the conditions for the Minor League part? If someone on the Cyclones is eligible, what are the rules for a MnL team drafting him? And what makes a player eligible for that part?
