#37 Quentin Young
3B/OF Oaks Christian (CA)
17/years old
6' 5" 215
COMMITTED - Louisiana State
Scouting grades: Hit: 50 | Power: 60 | Run: 50 | Arm: 60 |
Field: 50 | Overall: 50
The nephew of Dmitri and Delmon, Young was initially slated
to be a part of the 2026 Draft class but reclassified to join this year’s crop.
Young’s physicality and ceiling were on display all summer at events like MLB’s
High School All-American Game and USA Baseball’s 18U team in World Cup
qualifying.
The 6-foot-5 Young has a ton of projection, obvious baseball
bloodlines and some loud tools. He has huge raw power that some evaluators put
top-of-the-scale grades on. He has bat speed and some feel to hit, but there
are some swing-and-miss concerns and trouble recognizing spin that cropped up
over the summer, leading some to worry a bit about how much he’ll tap into that
raw pop consistently.
Young moves well for his size and his athleticism shows up
defensively. He actually doesn’t look terrible at shortstop, his position in
high school, though he’s likely to move to third if he’s going to stay on the
dirt. Some think he might be best suited in right field, where a plus arm that
can fire 95-mph fastballs off the mound profiles well. Committed to LSU, Young
could provide a team with a Jayson Werth-type of toolbox if he can to a more
consistent hit tool, with scouts who laud his work ethic believing he can do
just that.
2-25-25 - 2025 MLB Draft: A closer look at the top 20 high
school prospects entering the spring
15. Quentin Young, SS/OF, Westlake Village (California)
Young also reclassified into the 2025 class last spring, and
is believed to have a high power ceiling, with a 6-foot-5 frame. He has a plus
arm and is likely to move to third base or the outfield as he continues to get
better.

Village, Calif. (No. 37)
The nephew of former first-rounders Delmon and Dmitri Young,
Quentin reclassified from 2026, and at age 17, still has raw power to rival
anyone's in this Draft.

2024 National Showcase
Quentin Young is a 2025 SS/2B/3B with a 6-5 215 lb. frame
from Camarillo, CA who attends Oaks Christian. Extraordinary physical build,
big and physical yet twitchy and athletic. 6.62 runner in the sixty. Primary
shortstop on defense who is likely to end up at third base or right field in
the future. Arm strength is his big defensive tool, has a cannon with big
carry, tends to get his glove down late in the infield and can play lower to he
ground. Right handed hitter, hits from a wide straight stance, has big bat
speed and huge impact, gets separation and lift when he gets out front, mostly
middle of the field contact with big carry, ball comes off the barrel easily.
Nephew of former MLB outfielders Delmon and Dmitri Young. Good student, verbal
commitment to Louisiana State. Selected to play in the Perfect Game
All-American Classic.

In a bloodlines rich draft, Young fits right in as he is the
nephew of former big leaguers Delmon and Dmitri Young. While he has seen some
time in right, and could certainly become a plus defender there, I like him at
third base and think he is above average there with some plus upside. He has
real range and fluidity to go with one of the better arms in the class. At the
plate, he has a big leg kick that is off the ground a long time with plenty of
barrel tilt, although the balance is pretty good and the leg kick was not as
extreme this summer as the one before. He is an imposing presence which,
combined with the violent swing, leads to a ton of power. I considered putting
a 75 on the power grade, and would not be surprised if I adjust to that later
on, but those factors also lead to plenty of swing and miss concerns in the hit
tool. He was originally in the 2026 class before reclassifying last summer and
is currently committed to LSU.
