SAVAGE VIEWS – ONE THIRD OF THE WAY
Last Monday, I returned home after spending a weekend in Patchogue. We got together to hold a memorial service for my beautiful sister who passed away recently. Eight of us got together for dinner at Ita Kitchen in Patchogue to celebrate her life.
Brett has returned with a vengeance. In the two weeks since he returned, he has managed to lead the team in almost every offensive category. In sixteen games, he has more home runs than the rest of the team combined. If Soto was producing these numbers, we would be saying that he was worth every penny of his contract. Although he got shut out today, Baty’s numbers with men in scoring position has been solid.
It seems that every year the entire team goes into a funk with nobody hitting
their weight. This was supposed to be the year that our strong lineup would
produce historic numbers. No one could have predicted that our pitching staff
would have an ERA under three at this stage of the season.
SOTO
# THREE
I’ve long
advocated for Soto to be dropped down in the lineup with either Nimmo or
Vientos inserted into the two slot. In my opinion, Nimmo is more effective as a
top of the order hitter. By doing so, you strengthen the middle of the lineup
by having Alonso as the cleanup hitter.
RONNY IS READY
I expect Ronny Mauricio
to be back on the team by the end of the week. Ther’s little to be gained by
keeping him in Syracuse. On the other
hand, Viento has regressed to the point that a trip down might be beneficial to
his development. There is little space for Acuna on this roster, therefore he
might be a candidate to be demoted. When Ronny arrives, I would like to make him
the everyday second baseman.
LET’S
MAKE A DEAL
Many Met
fans would love to acquire Sandy Alcantara from Miami. The cost to get Sandy is
probably more than I would be willing to pay. On the other hand, I would offer
a truckload of talent to acquire Paul Skenes if the Pirates made him available.
What do you think?

Package Vientos Sproat and Acuña for Alcantra
Ray in Patchogue and me in Little Neck on the same week.
The Governor should have activated the National Guard
Not enough
Whats this love for Alcantra? His last good year was 22' and has not proved he's anywhere close to back
crap on this anonymous shit
Pitching is our strength, and that's without Manaea, Montas, and Blackburn, who are all due back soon. I see NO reason to strip the farm for more pitching.
As for the lineup, IMO McNeil deserves the #2 spot as much as anyone, at least vs RHPs. But my hesitation is about 3 LH hitters in a row at the top of the order.
The blogspot platform is from hunger
I find it sad that Jeff isn't in many lineups this season.
He wears his feelings on his sleeve and will never hit consistently unless he's a regular
Jeff needs to hit his way back to every day status. He hasn’t. But then, neither has Soto.
I grew up in Little Neck, and it hasn’t been the same since Scobee Diner (and the OTB) closed. 😐
Bill,
Maybe in September, Jett Williams becomes the #2 hitter. But in the meantime, Nimmo has to be given the shot.
